Welcome to
The Turning Pointe's
Children's Ministry
Leading kids to Jesus for
the adventure of a lifetime is the mission of the children's ministry of The
Turning Pointe for children from Birth - Fifth grade.
The goal of our children's ministry is to unlock children's hearts to the timeless truths of God's great love for them and the role they can play in His big story. Dedicated teachers use the keys that unlock children's hearts including: moving, talking, playing and being with friends to share the good news of God's everlasting love and His desire to be each child's Forever Friend.
Children can attend the Infant or Toddler Nurseries, Preschool class, or Kids Pointe throughout the entire worship time during the Saturday 5:30 pm, Sunday 9:00 and 10:30 am services.
Click on the drop down boxes for more specific information geared toward your child's age group. If you should have unanswered questions, please don't hesitate to ask Donna Grabert,
Director of Children's Ministries.

Our Infant Nursery is for newborns to 15 months (or steady
walkers.)
This well equipped nursery is in the Worship Center and parents
will find it ably staffed by a professional child caregiver. Pagers are available.
Toddler Nursery
Our Toddler Nursery is for babies 15 months to 3 years old. Once
your child reaches 3 years and is potty trained, we have a pre-school class
just for them!
Our college-aged nursery leader cares for children in this
nursery at all 3 weekly services. She will greet your child when you arrive at
the Worship Center and help them adjust quickly. Volunteer assistants make it
possible to keep all of the children in this group busy and happy.
Pagers will be used to notify you if you are needed to come back

KIDS POINTE
Our weekend experiences for elementary kids
incorporate a variety of activities designed for kids to build their
relationship with God, friends and caring adults.
Kids Pointe
meets during each of our worship services:Saturday 5:30 pm, Sunday 9:00 and
10:30 am. This group meets at the children/youth
building - Faith Pointe (located right next to our worship center.) Kids Pointe is for children from
Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Here is a look at what to expect at Kids Pointe:
Kids learn about one Bible story each month for the WHOLE month. During that month kids will get to explore the story through different mediums including: Computers, Cooking, Creating in Art, Video, Games, Drama and more! There is a memory verse each month that relates the main point of the story.
Gathering Time When children arrive they are checked in and given a name tag (parents are given a pick-up tag - see Security below.) Children are then able to join in a large group gathering that includes praise and worship, offering, prayer, memory verse practice and an introduction to the Bible story. This gathering time usually lasts about 15 minutes.
Workshops After gathering time the children are divided into age groups and go to workshops. The workshops are different each month but include: Creation Station (art), Holywood Theater (video), Fish.net (computers), Parable Productions (drama), Mary and Martha's Kitchen (cooking), Galilee Games (games), and more! These workshops include finding the Bible story in the Bible and then relating it to the medium of the workshop. Workshops generally last about 40 minutes.

Closing Time After the workshop time is completed children return to the gathering room and review what they have learned, have a closing prayer and praise time while waiting for parents to arrive.

In good relationships it is
necessary to spend time together regularly getting to know each
other better. It is no different in a relationship with God. Often
this time spent with God is called a quiet time or devotion time. Prayer,
worship, and Bible reading are often a part of this devotion time. Many
people look to devotional materials to help them engage in the time they spend
with God.
Listed below are several
options we happen to like a lot, but there are countless options
available.
Devotionals
available online or at a bookstore near you:
The One Year Book of Devotions for Preschoolers By Crystal Bowman Beautifully illustrated, the One Year Book of Devotions for Preschoolers is a collection of 366 daily devotions that focus on topics relevant to toddlers. Each day's devotion includes a Bible verse with the day's theme, a contemporary story and a short rhyming prayer.
Day
by Day Devotions 7-minute character growing devotions for kids by
Karen Henley This
devotional book leads kids ages 6-10 through a new devotional every day.
Each day's reading includes a scripture passage, a prayer, and a suggested
reading from the Day by Day Kid's Bible. These kid-friendly devotionals
engage kids in the Scripture in a fun and instructive way.
Sticky Situations by Betsy Schmitt This book is geared
toward middle to older elementary age kids and their parents. Each day's
reading provides a sticky situation a child may face with some possible options
for how to handle the situation, a scripture reference to show what the Bible
has to say and a discussion guide to help parents talk with their children
about the situation presented in the reading. Kids
Say the Best Things About Life: Devotions and Conversations for Families on the
Go by Dandi Daley Mackall Kids Say the Best Things About Life, offers family-centered devotions and conversations
that will help you pull your family members together for five minutes (or less)
at the start of every day. Each of the book's devotions begins with a humorous
quote from a child and uses interesting, fun facts to coordinate the day's
themes. The book then presents specific challenges and ideas for ways the whole
family can use the day's spiritual truth that day. And when the busy day is
over, gather the family together once more for an end-of-the-day review of how
all of you have used the morning's thought throughout the day.
Bibles:
Finding the right Bible for
your child can be a struggle. There are many out there, but these are
some favorites:
The
Beginner's Bible: Timeless Children's Stories by Karen Henley published by
Zonderkidz. Ideal
for children from 3 years through kindergarten. This Bible includes 90
stories that come to life through easy to read text, vibrant pictures and the
scripture reference where it can be found in a traditional Bible.
Day
by Day Begin-to-Read Bible by Karen Henley Learning
about God and learning how to read have never been so much fun for kids ages 4
to 7. Encourage the young readers in your home to start developing a love for
God's Word by picking up this Bible and reading one story each day. The Day by
Day Begin-to-Read Bible fits the unique needs of children just learning to
read. Its stories are not too long . . . but not too short either. Children
will be encouraged by the easy Day-By-Day format as well as the "I did
it!" star that rewards them for completing a story.
Day by
Day Kids Bible by Karen Henley.
A
unique tool to help children establish Bible reading habits for a
lifetime--with an investment of just seven minutes per day. In this revised
version of God's Story, daily Bible readings lead children through the
Scriptures in chronological order in just one year. The Day-by-Day Kids Bible bridges the gap between a Bible storybook and a full-text Bible since the
scriptures are simplified for young readers. Inside, you'll find dated Bible
readings for every day of the year, two-color interior illustrations and full
color pictorial time line of events. Recommended for ages 6 to 10.
Bibles we use at Kids Pointe:
NIrV
Little Kids Adventure Bible by Lawrence O. Richards published
by Zonderkidz. For kids from 4-8 years old this Bible is easy to read
with few pictures. The New International Readers Version is ideal for
children who think story/picture Bibles are too babyish but not quite ready for
a traditional Bible. The NIV
Adventure Bible, Revised by Lawrence O. Richards published
by Zonderkidz.

Our aim is to keep your
child safe during their experiences with us. Listed below are a few of our
security procedures:
- Our first line of security is open eyes. From those
greeting in the parking lot to those on staff to those who serve at Kids Pointe the security of our children is a top priority.
- Secondly, those
who serve with children in any way are required to complete a reference check and criminal background check.
- Third, when you arrive at Kids Pointe for a service your child will be given a name
tag and that includes an alphanumeric code. You will receive a tag with the same alphanumeric code that must match with the child in order to pick up your child.
